Every story has an end, and this is where ours ends.
"Sitting in the middle of the room, not knowing what to do or say... I think I should end it all here."
Hello, lads... I'm feeling a bit down over publishing this final post. After all the things I've prepared and presented, this moment doesn't feel familiar at all. I feel... lost and forgotten but somehow sure of myself and my confidence. Ending something is not easy, but here we are... Staring at one another through our monitors without any sensible bond (I think tears are coming out of my eyes😭).
ANYWAYS, LET'S JUST BRIEFLY REFLECT ON WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR, AYE? (Totally not deviating your attention from my drama😉)
Now first of all, I ENJOYED the Current Issues course! Into its minute details, the course was tediously tailored for us and had a lot of interesting tasks to cope with. Through assignment variety, the course did a pretty good job in keeping me motivated and engaged throughout the term, provisioning various opportunities to experience novel technology-integrated methodologies. HOWEVER, it goes without saying that the workload was a real burden! You can even tell how much I suffered just by reading the titles of my latest posts! It was pretty hard to manage my time, coupled with other assignments I had to deal with in the meantime. It was basically assignment, assignment, and MORE ASSIGNMENT! (GOD HELP ME!) But as I said before, I enjoyed preparing them, especially the flipped lesson one. Now, I'm telling you lads, it was the real deal. I had to take lots of shots just to get the perfect record for my imaginary students, yet I YIELDED AT LAST, AND THE OUTCOME WAS PHENOMENAL! But the AI-integrated corpus-based teaching one? My god... It was a disaster! Insufficient collaboration with my peers and their negligence were just the cherries on top. In short, I DESPISED THAT ASSIGNMENT! Now presently, if you are a sophomore ELT student thinking that your courses are nothing but sheer pain, just hear me out: If God were to describe hell without the far-fetched exaggerations, he would have used 3rd-grade courses in Marmara University's ELT department. But if you think you are cool with having to deal with an insurmountable number of assignments, you will surely like the Current Issues course. Additionally, the course will surely equip you with a better understanding of how technology can be integrated into language teaching, not merely by describing how it should but also by making you create useable materials. To make a few final remarks, I believe this course opened my eyes to any possible improvement in the area of educational technology. I will surely be on the lookout for the upcoming methods or materials that can be capitalized on to cater for my prospective students' interests in language learning.
GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD, ARDA'S OUT! 😁
