We Prepared a Digital Story!!!

"Why not make a story that is too riveting and humorous, and one that can make you realize how life actually works?"

It's been so long, hasn't it, fellas? But don't any of you worry now, because I got something to entertain and even stimulate some of you to try it yourself!

Hello everyone and welcome back to another post of mine! I know it's been too long, and I know I should have let you guys know about this disruption, but hey, at least I am back with a new concept, that is, a digital story (*Holy sound effects* 😇). Now, this task was assigned to me in my ICT class, and we were offered 3 choices. I, Mert, and Ozan (you can go to their blogs by clicking these numbers: 1. 2.) decided to go with a fictional story, thinking that we could come up with a unique and immersive product. We prepared a story about 3 associates, namely Ciano, Alberto, and Tony, working for a crime family in the 1930s. Our characters have their distinguished characteristics and are narrated by people who associated themselves with the actual atmosphere of the story to engage the listeners with a rigorous theme. The story focuses on bootlegging that happened back in the day and how it led to mafia wars in NYC. With an inconclusive ending and intense actions, the story offers its listeners a chance to look at how it feels to question what you do and what it is that you are really doing.

Apart from the results, the process itself was not that much of a problem. Before we even been introduced to this task, I already had the idea of writing a mafia story but just did not have the time to do so. With a clear idea in mind, we actually had fun while writing the script and even made jokes about the characters and gave them some piece of ourselves aswell, which we believe helped us associate ourselves with them more. The most entertaining part was voice acting. Since we had to present a real NYC theme, we tried to imitate our characters' accents, and it was quite funny to hear each other speak differently than we normally do (it was worth it!😡). Long story short, we had fun!

Lastly, from a pedagogical perspective, I believe creating digital stories, that is, asking pupils to do it, is quite beneficial for them to practice their speaking skills. Imitating their characters' accents, empathizing with them, and most importantly, writing a script for it benefits their overall grip of English. Hopefully, I will use it to engage my students with learning the language.

Until we meet again! Farewell lads!

You can listen to our story through the link below. Hope you guys enjoy it! Cheers!

I HATE GOODBYES!

"After all we've been through, is this how things will end?" "Hello world..." was the first utterance we were to see...
